The Rise And Rise Of The High-Rise Denim.

Lucy MacGill Editorial

There was a time when I thought I would NEVER wear high-waisted jeans.

The low rise Kate Moss mood had me. However, too many bum cracks and muffin tops kill it for me... Now... Well... Mmm... I’m lusting after the high rise.

Here's the three shapes I am dressing my clients in right now... Despite some reservation and hesitation! They are all hooked. Give it a go beautiful… Here’s how...

Oh and for more fashion in-site to all things cool check out my other blogs… You will LOVE.

High-rise wide leg

High-rise wide leg or boot-cut jeans are front and centre. Thanks to designers such as Celine, Marc Jacobs, and Gucci, the leg-lengthening, flared denim silhouette is set to be huge well into next season! You can do this. If you want to dip your toe in start with a cheaper price point like Zara, just go for it… they are doing them for under $70. Check out my inspo Polaroid. This is a Zara high rise.

High-rise skinny

High-rise skinny jean lovers will be happy to hear that the versatile silhouette is here to say well into 20/21. High-waisted styles reign supreme on all the runways. I like to dress my juicier fuller clients in the high-rise skinny. It is so flattering back with an oversize blazer or long line trench. I tend to dress my fuller clients in charcoal denim, black worn denim or dark clean denim here. Get it on your body, give it a go.

While heavily distressed and ripped jeans my have taken a back seat in our wardrobes, expect to see the style back in.  There is a major emphasis on vintage-looking denim on runways. Jeans that have a lived-in vibe. If they look like they could have been pulled straight out of a thrift store, then you’ve nailed it.  This is a great place to double denim. Or I love to pop on a pop coloured heel and crisp shirt and dress them up, clutch or cross body bag… It’s cool, fresh and age appropriate. Many of my clients have only reserved this look for casual, once dressed up it is so chic. Neck scarf another great addition.

The other area I think you should explore is the cute trend of the lace up shoe around the bottom of your denim. Subtle, chic, easy to do…. GIVE IT A GO! You are that cool!
